SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Arriving in a distinctly San Franciscan cable automotive, Mayor Daniel Lurie, Warriors star Stephen Curry and well-known chef Michael Mina joined dozens exterior the Westin in Union Sq. Tuesday.
The trio have been joined by different distinguished metropolis leaders, and even a disco bison. Everybody was there for the debut of Mina’s new lodge restaurant, Bourbon Steak, in addition to the brand new bar, The Eighth Rule, which is a partnership between Mina and Curry.

“We need to deliver neighborhood. We need to deliver enjoyable. We need to deliver tradition. That is what San Francisco’s about,” Curry stated.
The power contained in the restaurant was palpable Tuesday evening — the kind of vibe officers are hoping to deliver again to Union Sq..

Stephen Curry and Chef Michael Mina are opening a brand new restaurant, Bourbon Steak, and a brand new bar, The Eighth Rule, in San Francisco’s Union Sq..
“If you’d like it, we’re going to have it for you. We’re assembly the second post-pandemic. It is about experiences. It is about retail that folks need,” stated Marisa Rodriguez, CEO of the Union Sq. Alliance.
She says after being decimated through the pandemic and the years after, Union Sq. is as soon as once more the thriving heart of San Francisco.
Prior to now few months, a number of high-profile shops have opened within the purchasing hub. And earlier this week, one other one — Japanese clothes model Uniqlo — introduced it, too, will open up a brand new flagship just a few blocks away in 2026.
All of it’s a part of an even bigger push to breathe new life into the town’s city core, stated Mayor Daniel Lurie. On Tuesday, he introduced the town was increasing the variety of liquor licenses being given out to downtown institutions.

“Each single day, we will be relentless in bringing tourism and conventions and enterprise again,” Lurie stated.
With all the pleasure surrounding Bourbon Steak and The Eighth Rule, Rodriguez says there’s much more on the best way, teasing extra large title bulletins and experiences for everybody in San Francisco to get pleasure from.
“We’re doing the work now, and we count on the years to come back to be completely thrilling,” Rodriguez stated.
Each the restaurant and the bar are set to open on Friday, Oct. 10.
