BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Federal officers have opened an investigation into Jack Smith, the previous particular counsel who investigated then-candidate Donald Trump earlier than his reelection, for alleged unlawful political exercise.

Cotton, R-Ark., on Wednesday requested the Workplace of Particular Counsel to research Smith, alleging that his conduct was designed to assist then-President Joe Biden and his vp, Kamala Harris, each Democrats.
