GALVESTON, Texas — Former President Joe Biden will probably be attending a Juneteenth celebration at a historic African Methodist Episcopal Church in Galveston, Texas, on Thursday.
Sources advised ABC13 that the previous Democratic president’s plans had been confirmed.
In 2021, Biden signed laws that established Juneteenth as a federal vacation. The day marks the tip of slavery by commemorating June 19, 1865, when Union troopers introduced the information of freedom to enslaved Black individuals in Galveston.
The occasion will probably be held on the Reedy Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Galveston.
The church, sometimes called the “Mom Church of Texas,” was the place enslaved individuals gathered to worship.
