Joel Osteen’s church was gathered for Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 6 p.m.
HOUSTON — Police say a “suspicious bundle” at Houston megachurch resulted in an individual being arrested Tuesday evening.
The risk was made to Lakewood Church off the Southwest Freeway.
Lt. Willkens with HPD mentioned officers have been dispatched after stories {that a} man threatened to explode the church with a tool connected to sarin gasoline.
On the time, the church was holding a Christmas Eve candlelight service.
Officers recognized the suspect by connecting him to a separate name from earlier within the day.
In keeping with Lt. Willkens, as soon as officers arrived on the church and briefed the safety crew, they situated the suspect and duffel luggage.
A bomb squad and HFD hazmat responded to the scene to evaluate the baggage and potential units. Lt. Willkens mentioned no threats have been discovered.
The suspect was arrested and is now going through third-degree felony expenses.
Video confirmed a number of hearth vehicles and police models on the church. Crime tape sectioned off an space close to the church. Crews began leaving the scene at about 10:18 p.m.
