An enormous California wildfire has prompted evacuation orders and a freeway closure.
The Madre Hearth ignited Wednesday afternoon in San Luis Obispo County, based on Cal Hearth. It has since grown to 80,248 acres and is 30% contained as of Sunday, fireplace officers stated.
The hearth — the biggest in California to date this 12 months, based on Cal Hearth information — is burning in a largely rural space within the Los Padres Nationwide Forest close to Freeway 166, officers stated.
Evacuation orders had been issued close to Freeway 166 in San Luis Obispo County. The freeway is closed from U.S. 101 close to Santa Maria to Perkins Highway within the New Cuyama space of Santa Barbara County, based on the California Division of Transportation.
