Rice names new operator for Houston's Ion coworking house

Rice College subsidiary Rice Actual Property Co. has tapped coworking firm Industrious as the brand new operator of the Ion’s 86,000-square-foot coworking house in Midtown. Industrious replaces WeWork-owned Widespread Desk in that position.

The Ion, owned by Rice Actual Property and situated at 4201 Fundamental St., is a 266,000-square-foot workplace constructing and innovation hub within the 16-acre Ion District.

Options of the coworking house embrace personal suites and workplaces, devoted desks, cellphone cubicles and convention rooms. In 2022, Widespread Desk stated it was increasing the house by 28,000 sq. toes, bringing it to the present dimension.

Natalie Levine, senior supervisor of actual property at Industrious, says her firm will work with Rice Actual Property “to proceed to place the Ion as a useful contributor to the expansion of Houston’s innovation group.”

Dallas-based industrial actual property providers firm CBRE stated Jan. 14 that it had agreed to accumulate Industrious in a deal valued at $400 million.

The Ion is Industrious’ second location in Houston. The corporate’s different native coworking house is at 1301 McKinney St.
