NEW YORK — A tech outage led United Airways to floor flights nationwide Wednesday evening, and even with the difficulty now resolved, over 1,000 flights had been delayed and dozens had been canceled.
“We’re working with prospects to get them to their locations after a know-how disruption on Wednesday night,” the airline stated in an announcement.
The outage stemmed from a difficulty with the airline’s weight and stability laptop system, United stated.
“The underlying know-how situation has been resolved, and, whereas we count on residual delays, our staff is working to revive our regular operations,” the airline stated.
The airline stated the outage started shortly after 6 p.m. ET and was resolved after a couple of hours.
“Because of a know-how situation, we’re holding United mainline flights at their departure airports,” the airline stated in an announcement. “We count on extra flight delays this night as we work via this situation. Security is our prime precedence, and we’ll work with our prospects to get them to their locations.”
Total, greater than 1,000 flights had been delayed and greater than 40 had been canceled, in keeping with FlightAware, a website that tracks air visitors. United stated it is masking meals and resorts for impacted prospects.
The Federal Aviation Administration stated in an announcement it was conscious the airline “skilled a know-how situation disrupting their operations.”
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated the difficulty was particular to United’s operations “and is unrelated to the broader air visitors management system.”
